PRODUCT OVERVIEW

The Hardkorr 12V Banquet Frying Pan is a 5L, 600W electric frypan designed to run directly from a suitable 12V DC power system. The temperature control is marked from LOW to HIGH, with a operating range of approximately 120°C to 255°C

POWER SOURCE AND FUSE GUIDE

The frying pan is a high-current appliance and MUST be supplied by a correctly designed 12V DC circuit that can supply 50A @ 12V DC continuous.

Note: 

• 12V DC supply only. Do not connect the pan to 24V DC or 240V AC.
• The pan can draw 37.5-49.5A. The outlet, cable and connectors must be rated for sustained 50A current.
• Protect the supply circuit with the specified 50A midi-fuse. Never bypass a fuse or fit a larger/smaller fuse.
• Have the circuit checked by a qualified automotive electrician when its suitability is uncertain.

BEFORE FIRST USE

1. Remove all packaging and inspect the pan, lid, control housing, cable, Anderson connector and MIDI fuse/holder. Do not use damaged equipment.
2. Hand-wash the glass lid in warm water with mild detergent, then dry it thoroughly.
3. Wipe the cooking surface with a soft cloth or sponge dampened with warm, mildly soapy water. Wipe again with a clean damp cloth and dry. Do not immerse the pan or its electrical parts.
4. Place the pan on its intended cooking surface and confirm the lead can reach the Anderson outlet without tension, sharp bends or contact with hot surfaces.
5. Check your 12V DC auxiliary battery or power system is sufficiently charged.
6. Check your Anderson plug and cable are suitable for sustained 50A continuous loads.
7. Check there is no fuse smaller than 50A fitted to your Anderson plug circuit.
8. Confirm No cigarette-socket to Anderson adaptor is being used.

OPERATING THE FRYING PAN

1. Prepare the cooking area and confirm the supply circuit meets every item in the above "Before First Use" list.
2. Grip the Anderson plug housing and push it firmly into the matching 12V Anderson plug outlet until fully seated. Never pull or push on the cable itself.
3. Turn the control knob gradually toward the required heat setting and allow time for the pan to warm. Do not leave an empty pan unattended or heating on HIGH for an extended period.
4. Add a small amount of cooking oil if required, then add the food. Adjust the dial as cooking progresses.
5. Use the lid for simmering, steaming or retaining moisture. Remove it for browning or reducing liquids, and direct escaping steam away from your face and hands.
6. When cooking is complete, return the control to LOW, then disconnect the Anderson plug from the supply.
7. Leave the pan on its stable surface until fully cooled before moving, cleaning or storing it.

Note: The red LED next to the control knob will FLASH when heating, and turn SOLID once the set temperature is reached.

CLEANING AND STORAGE

1. Turn the control to LOW, disconnect the Anderson plug and allow the pan and lid to cool completely.
2. Remove loose food and excess fat with a soft paper towel or non-abrasive utensil. Dispose of cooking fats responsibly.
3. Hand-wash the glass lid using warm water, mild detergent and a soft sponge. Avoid sudden temperature changes, such as placing a hot lid on a cold or wet surface.
4. Wipe the cooking surface with a soft sponge or cloth and warm, mildly soapy water. Wipe again with a clean damp cloth.
5. Wipe the exterior, handles, control housing, lead and connector with a lightly damp cloth only. Never immerse the pan, control housing, cable or connector in water.
6. Do not use steel wool, scouring powders, oven cleaner, harsh chemicals or metal scrapers. Dry every part thoroughly before reconnecting or storing.
7. Store the pan in a dry place with the connector protected from dirt and moisture. Do not tightly kink the power lead, and protect the glass lid from impact.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Problem	Possible Cause	Solution
No heat	Supply off, low battery, loose plug, open fuse or incorrect polarity	Disconnect. Check battery, outlet, connector seating, polarity and the specified fuse. Do not bypass the fuse.
Slow heating	Low voltage, long/undersized cable, poor connection or large cold food load	Use a correctly rated Anderson circuit close to the battery. Charge the battery and reduce the food load if required.
Stops heating	Temperature cycling or over-temperature protection	Reduce the setting and allow the pan to cool. If it repeatedly shuts down during normal use, stop using it and contact Hardkorr.
Fuse blows	Short circuit, wiring fault or overload	Disconnect immediately. Find and correct the fault before replacing the fuse with the specified rating. Never fit a larger fuse merely to prevent blowing.
Plug or lead hot	Loose, dirty, damaged or underrated connection	Stop immediately and disconnect when safe. Inspect the outlet, cable and connector before further use.
Food sticks	Heat too high/low, insufficient oil or damaged coating	Use moderate heat, a small amount of oil and non-metal utensils. Stop using the pan if the coating is peeling or badly damaged.
