How does orange light reduce bug presence?

Some bugs, like mosquitos and moths, can't help but move their body towards any light source they can see. This phenomenon is called positive phototaxis. Entomologists still don't have a complete understanding of why this phenomenon exists, but it is clearly observable in nature.

Of course, bugs will only be attracted to light they can see, and there is a useful difference between the spectra of light which are visible to humans compared to bugs. Humans can generally see light which has a wavelength between 380nm (blue) and 740nm (red). Most bugs, conversely, can see light with a wavelength between 300nm and 600nm.

The wavelength of our orange LEDs is 610nm, putting them outside of the spectrum visible to most bugs, but still well inside the boundaries of human vision. As a result, most bugs will not congregate around our orange light because they simply don't know it is there.

Our 100cm tri-colour LED camping light bar kit provides extra bright illumination for open areas such as under awnings or gazebos. It is also handy for illuminating tailgates, larger canopies and even garden sheds or home workshops.

This kit also includes accessories for pole mounting, powering, dimming and changing the colour of the light.

Our exclusive diffusers, now included with all light bars, create a much wider, more pleasant light beam – no more LEDs shining in your eyes if you’re on the wrong angle! The light bar pole clips make attaching your bars to non-magnetic tent poles much easier.

Additionally, flush mounting is now easier and looks better thanks to our wire-covering end caps and flush mount clips (flush mount clips sold separately).

And if all that wasn’t enough… our new dimmers give these kits the ability to now produce three shades of light: cool white, warm white and orange! The new warm white setting gives off a light that is nearly as bright as cool white, but with a pleasant soothing warmth to the colour.

Great lights, seem to be good quality. Would be great to include some of the flush mount clips in the package, as I'm sure not everyone wants to mount to a pole.

A friend recommend these. I got 4 of the 1m units and wired them up to Motion sensors in the canopy on my ute. Glued them with polyurethane. They are totally awesome. Very even light, dimmable, orange to reduce insects. Could not be happier with the result. Highly recomended

I have these on my camper trailer and my ute canopy, they are in the heat,dust and wet and not a problem just don’t put the control box in direct sun as the plastic doesn’t like it.
Hardkorr is always easy to deal with and fast postage but what sets them apart in my opinion is after sales and warranty.

Handy Dimmer and Good Light Output, but Flimsy Clips and Faulty Dimmer

Not a bad product , light produced is good and the dimmer is handy. Fitting was not smooth as the clips didnt hold it very well and was hard to attach, initially it wouldnt click in and the plastic mounts are very flimsy and break easily. A better attachment would make it great but otherwise a good useful light. Unfortunately one of the dimmers with the lights didnt work and had a burnt smell when energised but luckily wasnt an issue as I was only using one dimmer for 2 lights anyway. Overall a good light and looks sleek in the canopy.

Purchased 2 x 1m light bars for camper annex. Excellent product and great to have so many accessories included that make them a breeze to set up anywhere and in any configuration - even spare mounting clips in case of breakage!! I love having the flexibility of the 3 different colour temperatures (cool white, warm white and orange) and dimmable as well. Like others, I store them in conduit tubes when not in use as I would hate either to break - they are so good!

Efficient Outdoor Lighting with Tri Colour Dimmer and Easy Storage Solution

Have two of these for outside lighting in our big awning. Really only need one. Lights up a huge area with minimal current draw. The new tri colour dimmer is great, set it at the level you want and that's what comes on next time you use it, doesn't get knocked like the old rotating one. Was surprised to find the pole clips included with this light. We now have two external 1m bars, one internal 1m bar and a 30cm bar for our shower tent. All of them are awesome. Magnets are strong and attach to the smallest amount of steel with ease. Hardest thing is storage. The older style without the diffuser we have fits nicely inside a 1m length of tent pole cut down for the purpose; the newer light with the diffuser is bigger and wont fit. Need at least a 25mm pipe to store it.

Works really well and great that it can be linked with other LED lights. Only downside is that it would be good if it had a carry tube/case that protected it, as being 1m long it is difficult to protect.
